A couples spa day is less about squeezing in as many treatments as possible and more about stepping out of your normal routine together. At Liya Pure Beauty & Spa in Kensington, we see couples celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, engagements and ordinary weeks that deserve a little care. Here is how to plan a day that feels relaxed rather than rushed.
Why book a couples spa day?
Most of us spend time together with phones in hand, half-listening. A spa day creates a different kind of space: no notifications, no decisions, no rushing. You share an experience, then sit quietly with tea. For many couples, that is the real luxury.
It also works well for friends, mothers and daughters, and small groups. The format is flexible — you can share every treatment or choose different ones and meet afterwards.
Choose your shared treatment
A hammam for two
Our spa hammam is a popular choice for couples because it is both a treatment and a ritual. You move through steam, black soap, a kessa scrub and a foam wash, then relax with complimentary Moroccan tea. It is cleansing, warming and very different from a standard massage.
Side-by-side massage
A body massage is the classic couples treatment. Choose Swedish for gentle relaxation, deep tissue for stubborn tension, or hot stone for warmth. Let us know your preferred pressure when you book so the therapists can match you.
Facials for each of you
If your skin needs attention, book a HydraFacial or a Natural Facial Express. You can choose different treatments and still share the relaxation. Tell us about allergies, sensitivities and any active skin concerns in advance.
Build in time
Arrive 15 to 30 minutes before your first treatment. That gives you time to change, complete any health questions and settle in without watching the clock. A comfortable couples visit usually takes two to three hours, including treatment time and a pause afterwards.
Do not schedule anything demanding straight after. The best spa days end slowly: tea, a light snack, a short walk, then home.
Make it feel special
- Tell us the occasion. We can help you choose a package that suits the moment.
- Put phones away. A shared locker or bag keeps the day distraction-free.
- Book ahead. Weekends and evenings fill quickly, especially for two therapists at the same time.
- Plan a small surprise. A card, flowers or a favourite drink afterwards can make the day memorable.
Practical tips for couples
Book together, arrive together. If you want treatments at the same time, say so when booking. We will confirm availability and whether a shared room is possible for your chosen treatments.
Share health information. Pregnancy, recent surgery, high blood pressure, skin conditions and medication matter for heat treatments and massage. This is confidential and helps us keep you comfortable.
Skip alcohol beforehand. Heat and massage can make you feel light-headed. Water and a light meal are better preparation.
Accept different preferences. One of you may want a deep tissue massage while the other wants a gentle facial. That is fine — you can meet afterwards.
After your spa day
Drink water, moisturise if you had a hammam or scrub, and avoid another heat treatment or intense workout for the rest of the day. If you had a massage, gentle movement can help you feel looser. Most importantly, do not rush back into the week.
